JANSEN® PTO-Powered Log Splitter – 30 t splitting force, 110 cm & log lifter

This JANSEN® PTO-Driven Log Splitter is a heavy-duty and robust model designed for use with a suitable tractor. With a maximum splitting force of 30 metric tons and a maximum splitting length of 110 cm, the machine is designed for large-scale splitting operations.

It is driven by the tractor’s PTO shaft at a maximum of 540 rpm. The log splitter features a 3-point hitch and can therefore be mounted directly onto a compatible tractor. A drive shaft is not included.

Features include a log lifter, a 26 cm long splitting wedge, two different operating modes for the splitting wedge, and a hydraulic system with two operating speeds.

30 metric tons of splitting force via PTO drive

The maximum splitting force of 30 metric tons is generated by the wood splitter’s hydraulic system. Power is supplied via the PTO shaft of a suitable tractor or farm tractor with a maximum speed of 540 rpm.

The wood splitter is equipped with a 3-point hitch. The top link pin has a diameter of 19 mm, and the lower link pins have a diameter of 22 mm.

Please note: The drive shaft required for operation is not included.

Up to 110 cm splitting length

With a maximum splitting length of 110 cm, pieces of wood of corresponding length can be processed. The standard splitting wedge is approximately 26 cm long.

When the cylinder is fully extended, the distance between the splitting wedge and the ground is approximately 16 cm. The cylinder has an outer diameter of 138 mm and a piston rod with a diameter of 70 mm.

Two operating modes for the splitting wedge

A simple spring mechanism provides two different operating modes:

1. Automatic return:
After releasing the control levers, the splitting wedge automatically returns to the preset position. The return position can be continuously adjusted using a lever. For this operating mode, the spring must be disengaged.

2. Splitting wedge remains in position:
After releasing the control lever, the splitting wedge remains in its current position. Retraction occurs only when the control lever is pushed upward. For this operating mode, the spring must be engaged.

This allows the operation to be adapted to the specific splitting situation.

2-Speed Hydraulic System

The log splitter operates at two speeds. The faster speed is used to bring the splitting wedge into contact with the log. A slower speed is available for the actual splitting process.

The maximum cylinder speed in the fast cycle is approximately 5.5 seconds in the forward stroke and approximately 9.5 seconds in the return stroke. In the slow speed mode, approximately twice that time should be expected.

Log lifter included as standard

The attached log lifter assists in raising and positioning heavy logs. This eliminates the need to lift large pieces of wood entirely by hand into the working position.

If the log lifter is not needed, it can be locked into the upper position, where it serves as a second safety bar.

Transport & Tractor Attachment

The log splitter stands on two wheels and also features a transport wheel. This allows the machine to be moved by hand to the work site. Due to its weight of approximately 370 kg, it is recommended to have a second person assist.

Alternatively, the log splitter can be attached to a suitable tractor via its 3-point hitch.

For transport, the cylinder can be easily lowered to a height of approx. 1.99 m.

Safety & EN 609:2017

The log splitter is manufactured and produced in accordance with the EU product safety standard EN 609:2017.

Important: A splitting cross is included in the scope of delivery. However, within the European Union, this must not be used when operating the log splitter, as EN 609:2017 does not permit the use of multiple splitting wedges or splitting crosses with log splitters.

Delivery & Commissioning

The wood splitter is delivered well-protected and upright. Allow approx. 30 minutes for final assembly and commissioning.

A German operating manual and an exploded view diagram are included in the scope of delivery. Hydraulic oil of the HLP46 classification is used for the hydraulic system. The specified amount of hydraulic oil is approx. 30 liters.

Note on the transport support: The transport support included with the delivery is intended solely to support the cylinder during shipping. It must be removed after the initial setup of the log splitter and replaced as specified—for example, with a suitable log.
