The JANSEN® HS-40L55-XXL is the powerhouse of our log splitter family. With a measured splitting force of 40 metric tons, a powerful 13.5 PS Briggs & Stratton gasoline engine, and a maximum splitting length of 55 cm, the machine is designed for demanding and extensive splitting tasks.

Its extensive features include a hydraulically height-adjustable splitting crossbar, a hydraulic log lifter, and a large output table. The working height of approx. 90 cm allows for comfortable handling of the wood.

The hydraulic system is also appropriately sized: With a maximum hydraulic pressure of 240 bar, it provides the power needed for a powerful splitting process.

40 metric tons of splitting force

With a directly measured splitting force of 40 metric tons, the JANSEN® HS-40L55-XXL is designed for demanding splitting tasks. It can process pieces of wood with a length of approx. 200 to 550 mm and a diameter of approx. 150 to 400 mm.

The splitting cylinder has a diameter of 140 mm and a 60 mm-thick piston rod. A full forward stroke takes approximately 8 seconds, and a full return stroke takes approximately 7 seconds.

13.5 PS Briggs & Stratton Gasoline Engine

The HS-40L55-XXL is powered by a Briggs & Stratton 4-stroke gasoline engine with a displacement of 420 cm³ and an output of 13.5 PS or 10 kW.

The engine is started using a recoil starter. The fuel tank holds approximately 6.6 liters, and fuel consumption is approximately 1.0–1.2 liters per hour.

Hydraulically adjustable splitting crossbar

The splitting cross can be adjusted hydraulically for height. This allows its position to be adapted to different log sizes without having to manually adjust the height of the splitting cross.

In combination with the high splitting force and the hydraulic drive, this feature supports a smooth workflow with varying log dimensions.

Hydraulic log lifter

The HS-40L55-XXL features a hydraulic log lifter. This assists in lifting and positioning heavy logs and reduces the need for manual lifting to the working height.

The large output table then provides ample space for the split wood and supports a continuous workflow.

Working height of approx. 90 cm

The splitting table is positioned at a height of approximately 90 cm. Together with the log lifter and drop table, the HS-40L55-XXL is thus designed for processing larger quantities of wood.

Transport & Maneuvering

Despite a machine weight of approx. 747 kg, the HS-40L55-XXL can be moved and maneuvered at the job site thanks to its undercarriage, drawbar, and tow eye. The maximum towing speed is 25 km/h. The drawbar load is approx. 180 kg.

Please note: The log splitter is not approved for road use. It may therefore not be towed behind a passenger car or a tractor on public roads in Germany. For transport on public roads, the log splitter must be loaded onto a suitable trailer, for example.

Delivery & Commissioning

The JANSEN® HS-40L55-XXL is delivered well-protected and partially disassembled in a wooden crate. Allow approximately 6–7 hours for final assembly. A German operating manual is included with the delivery.

Due to the machine’s heavy weight, we recommend using appropriate lifting equipment and tools for assembly.

Approx. 45 liters of hydraulic oil are also required for the initial fill. We recommend hydraulic oil with the classification HLP46. The Briggs & Stratton gasoline engine, approximately 1.2 liters of engine oil is also required. Here, we recommend a multigrade oil with a classification of 10W40 or 15W40.
