The JANSEN® HS-20DS55pro is a high-performance double log splitter based on the proven design of the HS-20DS63 and specifically refined for enhanced performance. With 20 metric tons of splitting force in the forward stroke, 17 metric tons in the reverse stroke, and a fast work cycle of only about 6 seconds per stroke, it enables a swift workflow in firewood processing.

What sets this dual-action splitter apart: The splitting process takes place during both the forward and reverse strokes. This allows operation in both directions of movement. Power is provided by a proven KOHLER 6.5 PS gasoline engine.

Compared to the HS-20DS63, the “pro” version offers several enhancements: a large discharge table, a higher working position, a better-protected splitting cylinder, and an optimized work cycle.

Double splitting in both forward and reverse

The HS-20DS55pro operates as a double-acting log splitter. The log can be split during both the forward and reverse strokes of the splitting mechanism. This eliminates an unused reverse stroke, and the next splitting operation can take place immediately on the opposite side.

The splitting force, measured directly at the splitting wedge, is 20 metric tons during the forward stroke and 17 metric tons during the reverse stroke. The work cycle is approximately 6 seconds per stroke.

55 cm splitting length & large output table

Pieces of wood up to 55 cm in length can be processed with the HS-20DS55pro. The large output table provides additional storage space and supports a smooth workflow.

The elevated working position has also been optimized compared to the previous model and allows for more comfortable operation of the horizontal log splitter.

Protected Splitting Cylinder

Another feature of the pro model is the protected splitting cylinder. This design reduces direct contact between the cylinder and dirt, dust, and wood debris during operation.

The scope of delivery includes two splitting crosses that can be mounted on both ends of the double wood splitter. This equips the HS-20DS55pro for its two-sided operating principle.

6.5 PS KOHLER Gasoline Engine

Power is provided by a KOHLER gasoline engine with 6.5 PS. The engine is started via a recoil starter and allows the log splitter to be used off-grid.

Transport & Maneuvering

The HS-20DS55pro features a towing drawbar and hitch, allowing it to be maneuvered or moved at the work site.

Please note: The log splitter is not approved for road use and must not be towed behind a passenger car on public roads in Germany. For transport on public roads, the log splitter can, for example, be loaded onto a suitable trailer using appropriate ramps.

Delivery & Commissioning

The JANSEN® HS-20DS55pro is delivered pre-assembled and well-protected in a sturdy wooden crate. A detailed German-language user manual is included.

Allow approximately 5–6 hours for final assembly. Due to its size and weight, we recommend that assembly be performed by two people or with the assistance of a suitable piece of equipment such as a forklift, front loader, or workshop crane.

For the initial fill, approximately 12 liters of hydraulic oil are additionally required. We recommend hydraulic oil of the HLP46 classification. The KOHLER gasoline engine also requires approximately 1 liter of engine oil. Here, we recommend a multigrade oil of the 10W40 or 15W40 classification.
